No, she's NOT hungry!

Why is that whenever babies are fussy in public everyone automatically assumes they're hungry? It couldn't be that they're tired or hot or cold or over-stimulated or bored or whatever. No, babies must only cry because they are hungry.

I've gotten several comments about this in the past (usually by older women) when one of my babies has been crying in public. The most recent was at the library when Sophie was squalling and the lady behind me said, "Sounds like someone's ready to eat!" even though I had just barely fed her before we left. Ha! If only she had only looked a little closer she would have seen 2 chipmunk cheeks and 2 roly-poly thighs that are proof that Sophie never misses a meal.

Does this ever happen to you?

I have so been there! Inevitably when Tyler starts to fuss in public, someone will comment that he must be hungry. It is always right after feeding him too. In my case, it's more that he hates the car seat!!!

Ha, ha so funny! I can just see the frown on your face while you were typing this post! It is maddening when people try to second guess what YOUR children are doing. A friendly smile would do wonders. Hope you are doing well.

Yes, why do others (especially old ladies who are far removed from being a young mother!) feel the need to comment. Sophie is looking so cute with her little rolls!

Oh, Honey, let me tell you. This is one of those things that I have complained to Barry about many times. And, you're right, it's always older women. That has happened with certain family members (mine and Barry's) and it is maddening, I tell you. I totally feel your pain on this one! Maybe all those ladies just shoved a bottle in their baby's mouth whenever they cried?!

Let's just say that for some reason people...complete strangers feel like they can give me any advice (or touch my pregnant belly). It's almost like they are on the prowl for women either pregnant or with a baby to tell their advice to or "up the hill and down the hill in 10 feet of snow to school both ways" stories! Or if my kids are fussing I get the "I am so sorry for you talk"...drives me nuts! Why is it always me!?! ;)And like Suzanne said...it's always older women! Now that I said all this, watch me turn out to be the same thing I have dreaded coming in contact with!!! hee hee!

Yip, been there, done that. I hate unsolicited comments! My all-time favorite was the lecture I got about how Clara MUST be allergic to milk becuase of this or that or another. Five minutes later I walked off mid-sentence. Enough is enough old women. You've had your turn at child rearing. Leave me alone!
