The Reason I Can Never Lose Weight

Yesterday I went running without my music or one of my kids in tow. I rarely have a second to myself these days, so I thought it would be nice to be alone with my thoughts. You know, maybe I could set some goals, fantasize about a clean house, the usual. Strangely enough I found myself thinking about food and how I couldn't wait to snarf the dinner that was waiting for me at home. Then it hit me: Every time my clothes start to feel a little loose, or the scale drops a few pounds, I think, " Yes! Now I can have 3 peanut butter ice cream sandwiches instead of the 2 that I was going to have."
This is completely the wrong mindset. What I should think is, "Sweet! My jeans aren't snug anymore, so if I lay off the junk food I can drop a dress size by my 10 year HS reunion!" The same problem exists outside of my own thoughts. After Sophie was born, someone said, "You look great!" What they meant was: "You look great for just having a baby", while I took it to mean, "Sweet! Now I can make cookies and eat half of the dough!"
So there you have it. You know why I can never lose weight, and you know what I think about when there is nothing to think about. Now get to Walmart and buy some peanut butter ice cream sandwiches!
P.S. You can tell I have been feeling nostalgic about high school and reading through my old journals because "Sweet!" is my exclamation of choice. I have been using it like crazy.

Ha ha ha ha ha! Sweet!

I sooo feel your pain! Sometimes I think you have to hold the carrot in front of the horse to get some good exercise out of it! :)Keeps me goin'...exercise...lose weight...can eat more junk food...then exercise again! It goes on and on!

I am going to have to pass on the PB ice cream sandwiches.

Glad to hear you had a few minutes to run by yourself. It is nice to have a break once in awhile!

I agree with Lindsey - pass on the PB ice cream. PB CHIP, on the other hand, is entirely different. :) I have the same idea that I can eat more b/c I plan to exercise. Lately it's been that I just eat more. :( :( Too bad we can't run together up the Provo River trail like old times. It's always funner with a partner.

You are too funny. I think I have given up on losing weight, and I have nothing to complain about because I haven't had a kid in 3 years! You do look great in the pics:)

You are amazing to think about losing weight when you just had a baby. I gave up a long time ago. That said I am looking forward to those PB ice sandwhich. I have never seen them.

Amen sista! PB ice cream sandwiches? Those could be delish. We are kinda off WalMart for now, we have become deal chasers using our rewards card at grocery stores, since our card doesn't consider WalMart a "grocery store." I'm going to my reunion next weekend. Should be interesting. I'm glad you get some time to exercise. I've been trying to go at 7 am before the boys are up and Brandon's at work. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Oh well.

Sara, you look great, not just as a new mommy but as a beautiful woman! As a fellow foodie though, I feel your pain! : )

Righteous!! (hee hee) I'm so in your shoes right now. Albertsons just had their 10 for $10 on brownie mix about three weeks ago. Yeah, we have four left. Ha! So much for only a pound a week during the last trimester! And I've been totally nostalgic with HS too. I've been obsessed with the BHS blog and the links to others' blogs. It's so funny to see people ten years later!

Okay, I will just say "amen" to what Kelli said!!! Except Kelli is actually good! I'm soooo not!

I'm so glad you come to my house to run twice a week. Seriously, lately, if you didn't then I probably wouldn't exercise at all! I'm totally in a funk. And I'm paying for Weight Watchers meetings that I haven't been attending. It's so sad. It's just too fun to bake and waaaay to fun to eat.

LOL. I do the exact same thing. As long as the number on the scale is dropping, I think it means I can go free-for-all...which is probably why it doesn't drop for long. I've never tried those ice cream bars though...maybe next time I'm at Walmart. I'm sure you look great!
