What's in a Name?

Sophie is only 3 months old and already has a nickname. This, of course, is Ryan's doing, so brace yourself.

Here it is: Sophenhoggle.

I don't even know how to spell it.
Not only is it a mouthful, but it's a horrible mouthful. More often than not just gets shortened to "The Hoggle." As in, "Where's The Hoggle?" Or, "Can you put The Hoggle to bed tonight?" Or my personal favorite, "Don't hassle The Hoggle." Because here's what happens when The Hoggle gets hassled:

Unfortunately Ryan's nicknames have a knack for sticking. That's why 3 1/2 years later we still call Riley "Bruiser" or some variation thereof.

On a side note, today is July 4 and I am blogging instead of watching fireworks because Ryan has been gone all week on a 50 mile Scout hike. He missed seeing the kids in their darling outfits (thanks Grammy!) and someone needs to appreciate their cuteness.

Bruisey, Sissy, and The Hoggle. Perfectly normal sounding names. Right?

Oh don't get me started on our names. We have some, but yours are unique. Great fourth of July outfits. I hope you are hanging in there without your hubby. Yikes!

Sophenhoggle??? Wow! That is definitely a Ryan-inspired nickname. :) :) Sissy is so tan! The kids look so cute in their outfits and Sophie is getting so big. I love that she's in the Boppy too, ha ha! :)

Oh my! The Hoggle is one that I never would have imagined! Ryan is so funny. "Don't hassle the Hoggle" is so great. Cute 4th of July outfits! Your kids are sooo darling.

What cute kid pictures!!! I love the red, white, and blue outfits! I always think it will be fun to dress the kids up for the holidays. But, when it comes down to buying the outfits I just haven't been able to do it yet. It's always nice, though, when Grandma sends clothes! Yay!

So, I have to ask, where did the "Hoggle" come from. Is it short for something or another language? It's just nothing like anything I've heard before. Just curious. =)

Well, I was wondering what he would come up with for a nickname. I didn't think it would be quite that bad!

The kids look so cute dressed up in their 4th of July duds!

We miss you guys already and Sophie has grown so much since we saw her.

Oh my gosh Ryan has done it again! I LOVE the name again, of course. Hey, after being called Claire Pig my whole life by Ryan you learn to appreciate clever and UNIQUE nicknames. I laughed so hard about "dont hassle the hoggle." And sorry about the blog. I really didnt want anyone to read it is why i didnt tell anyone. I just started it for Amy because we both despise blogging and next thing i know melissa is reading it. I miss you guys so much. How is the blessed south? I LOVE Alabama.

LOL...that was hilarious. Those sure are cute kids...even if they do have some rather strange nicknames. Those outfits are too cute.

We have a few nicknames as well.
Amanda panda or panda or shortened now to just panna.
Sariah Bobeskiyah - don't know how to spell it! we used to joke that we hoped we weren't saying something bad in russian or something. When we had JUST moved to Japan, she was 3 and we were living in a hotel for a few weeks. I lost her... when I finally found her (3 flights up the stairwell, watching the cleaning lady mop the floors), I told her how scared I was and what if she got lost, and noone knew who she was... She looked at me and said as proud as you please, "I'm Sariah Bobeskiyah!" I thought ya, that will help! Even if you were found by police or something, NOONE was going to be able to track us down by THAT NAME! we decided it was time for her to learn her real name!!! ;-)
