First, try starting it again. Then, check to make sure it has gas. Twist the cap off and peer inside. Finally, shriek out loud because the entire gas tank is filled with dirt and grass.
To Ryan's credit, he was quite calm about the whole matter. Much more calm than I would have been if, say, I had discovered my washing machine filled with dirt.
It's a fact that kids wreck stuff. It's just what they do. They don't grasp the concept of choice and consequence-- that the lawnmower won't run if it's filled with dirt. As a mother of 3 little people, I understand this. Nevertheless, there is a 3 year old up for sale today. If you come this morning we'll throw in his sister for half price.

You make me laugh! I could just imagine Riley with a big grin on his face just like he always does. If I lived closer, I'd take them off your hands for the day. Abby is looking for a playmate!
Yikes! Destruction is certainly one of those things that you have to expect as a parent of little people (well, probably not so little people, too). Too bad about the lawnmower. My sympathies!
We are going to buy a dvd player today since ours is too stupid to work properly. Would you like me to pick up a new lawnmower while I'm out?! =)
Ha ha! You crack me up!
What is it with the dads being more patient with this type of stuff...or was he wanting a new mower anyway? Hmmm...
Amazing what masterminds we are raising! Ok...scary more than amazing! ;)
oh geez, what kids won't think of! It makes you wonder what goes through their brains, doesn't it? I'll look forward to seeing the post about Ryan's new toy. : )
OH man. Our lawnmower is broken too but I imagine it's not quite as frustrating as your situation :). What would possess a little guy to fill the gas compartment with grass and dirt? Maybe I just shouldn't ask.
Thanks for the great laugh. Sorry about the lawn mower.
Which sister do we get? Jadyn was up for sale a little while ago. She has calmed down and adjusted to having Maya so she is no longer for sale.
It is quite humorous that he put the dirt in it...well, at least to others :)
I'll take both your kids for free! McKay will be thrilled! :) :) Big bummer about the lawnmower though. It is truly amazing how dads don't seem as bothered by that though...maybe because Ryan knows there are so many other things that they COULD have done. :)
Oh Sara! I am dying with laughter! You and Ryan are so funny! Yikes though about the lawnmower. Nothing ever stays nice, which is probably why you still have that couch (why am I always bringing that up?!). Branson just broke one of my beloved ceramic mushrooms out of our flower garden yesterday and came in and said "broke." Nice. Oh, I wish you lived next door. Love you.
Still laughing and read that one aloud to Blake! You are too funny! Sorry about the lawnmower, but thanks for giving us a good laugh tonight! Oh, and can I just buy Sissy? I wouldn't know what to do with a boy...
That's the funniest thing I've heard all week. I seriously am laughing out loud right now. I love it! That's a total bummer, but makes for a great story.
Makes me glad that I won't have a lawnmower! Best of luck and remember you will look back and laugh one day...
Chalk it up to the embarrassing stories to tell his girlfriends one day
